Lots of grand aircrafts for this Memorial Weekend Event.  We even had a genteleman from Florida with his mobile hanger and workshop

Fellow modelers,

This one is in the books as the greatest fun-fly ever.  The weather was perfect, most everyone got to fly all day.  The foamies were in the air every where.  The big gassers were growling and professing their prowess.  There was no where to hide from Tony White’s smoke Belching Monster planes.  The foamies were scurrying to safety like a flock of baby ducks under their mother’s wing.  We had the assistant AMA Vice President from Tyler here to join in the festivities.  Jack Hogan, a truly nice guy.  He brought planes to fly and things to swap.  Just one of the gang.  Ted White had an old timer that refused to land on full idle and down trim.  Raffle tickets went like hot cakes.  We had raffles from about 9 A.M. until 1:30.  I think every one won something, some of them won more than once.  It sure was great to see Gary Smith back at the field.  He sure looked great after all I had heard about his traumatic illness.  Our germy cooks did a great job of feeding the crowd.  I mean it was a great effort by Ross and Ken to do such a great job again.  Oh, I guess they have had plenty of experience, nothing new to them.  Ken flew his Giant Aeromaster and his Bucker expertly.  There were so many planes and pilots that I should mention but don't have the time or space.

This year the tailgate swap-meet was the largest I have seen at our field, many tables and planes and parts and paraphernalia every where,  There was constant activity in the air.  The bull sessions and the bartering began early around 8:00 A.M. and were constant until after 3:00.  Ross Woods held an impromptu auction after the lunch to help move some of the piles of items.  Jimmy Wade put on quite a demo of 3-D with a Foamie Stearman.  Then Kenny showed him to a Stearman is supposed to perform.  Who ever heard of a Stearman tail dancing,  Ridiculous!!!  Oh well it was entertaining, also Kenny had a British WWI bipe to chase the big bad birds with, much like a gnat on an elephant.

Thanks for the effort guys.  Let’s get ready for the Big Bird in May.
